Operations, also known as "the box", is the focal point for daily operational and logistical functions of the Alaska Smokejumpers. Constant fire readiness is the primary objective of operations, centered around the "jump list." This list of nametags on the wall shows each smokejumper's location, fire availablity and basic qualifications. The box coordinates between different branches of the Alaska Fire Service and the smokejumper sections, gathering information and directing crewmembers when necessary.
