Refresher training at the let-down station

Rookie training on Birch Hill

The Alaska Smokejumpers training section is a collaboration of specialists working to train new smokejumpers, refresh returning jumpers and teach new skills to all crewmembers. The training section monitors crewmembers' training needs as their careers progress and changes in firefighting operations arise. One objective is to have all Alaska smokejumpers acheive a division boss qualification on their red card within five years. In addition to firefighting classes, trainers facilitate Emergency Medical Technician courses, tree climbing classes and prescribed fire training.
